The Ghosts of Sunday Morning

In the exhibition The Ghosts of Sunday Morning, Design Museum Den Bosch honours the craftsmen of the European Ceramic Work Centre (EKWC). Thirty leading works from the history of the EKWC are recreated in white clay, creating an intriguing, almost ghostly atmosphere in which the past and the present come together.

To intensify the ghostly atmosphere, the works are presented on transparent columns that are slowly filled with mist and subtly illuminated from below. This creates a mysterious and almost ethereal appearance. The experience is further enriched with a soundscape, in which the special sound of ceramics that have just come out of the kiln can be heard. This creates a complete sensory experience that seems to blur the boundary between the tangible and the intangible.
